DR. CORRY BELL - ACCOMPANIST
Dr. Corry Bell has appeared before audiences in the U.S. and Europe as a solo pianist/ keyboardist for concerts, festivals and shows for decades.He currently teaches and performs as an Associate Faculty member since 2012 at Mt. San Jacinto Community College, Menifee and Mt. San Jacinto Community College campuses. He also accompanies the College Singers at MSJC. He performs regularly with the Temecula Symphony Orchestra, coaches piano privately and is the staff pianist at Temecula United Methodist Church since 2002. Bell, a current member of ASCAP, has composed and recorded original orchestral and chamber music for the media, performed as a jazz and classical studio artist, as an improvisor for modern dance groups in Los Angeles and New York, and as an adjudicator for competitions in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, NV
and Temecula, CA.
As a performer and composer, he has performed in New Music Festivals frequently throughout the U.S. premiering works of newer composers. He has also worked as show pianist at Lawrence Welk resort and productions in and around Temecula. Bell has a BM (sum cum laude) from California State University, Northridge, a MM from Indiana University, Bloomington, Professional Studies from Juilliard School of Music, and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California. Before college, Bell studied jazz improvisation and arranging at the Dick Grove music workshops, while studying serious piano with progressive piano instructor, Victoria Front, in Beverly Hills, CA.
Awards and scholarships include Dennis Workman Memorial Award, Irving Block outstanding Achievement in Fine Arts Award, International Busoni Piano Competition finalist with recognition, Concerto competition winner in Northridge, Riverside and Los Angeles, California, Bloomington, Indiana. Full scholarship recipient for California State University, Northridge, teaching assistantship from Indiana University, Bloomington,
Fellowship from the University of Southern California, full scholarship for Juilliard School of Music. Significant CD recordings include ‘Of Red and White’, ‘A Better World’, and original music ‘Road Trips'.
