TVMC Presents: Youth Vocal Competition
Temecula Valley Master Chorale's Youth Vocal Competition is divided into two Divisions: Division I for students in grades 6-9, and Division II for students in grades 10-12. Adjudicators spend time with each performer offering evaluations and suggestions, and cash prizes will be awarded to the First, Second, and Third Place winners in each Division.
Division I: Grades 6-9
1st Place - $300 2nd Place - $200 3rd Place - $100 |
Division II: Grades 10-12
1st Place - $500 2nd Place - $400 3rd Place - $300 |
Past winners have gone on to study Voice and/or Opera at the Thornton School at USC, Juilliard, Brigham Young University, Bob Cole Conservatory at CSU Long Beach, and other prestigious universities.
The goal of this competition is to encourage vocal students to explore and learn the classical style of singing. Adjudicators will be listening for quality vocal technique including the singing language chosen by the participant as well as interpretive musical style that is appropriate for the selection.
Suggested Classical Songs include Spirituals, Folk Songs, or Arts Songs in either English or a foreign language. Please, no Musical Theater, Broadway, Standard Ballads, Contemporary Christian, Pop, or Country.
The competition is open to students throughout the Inland Empire and North San Diego County.
